Cumberland Presbyterian Nursery School
The Cumberland Presbyterian Nursery School is located at 565 East 10th Street in Cookeville, TN as part of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The daycare facility opened in 1967 as a way to serve the childcare needs of families in the community.
As we are a licensed child care facility, we are monitored by the Department of Children’s Services. We must conform to their standards in order to keep our child care license. However, we also participate in the Tennessee Star- Quality Child Care Program. Each year our program is assessed and given a report card. If a center complies only with the DHS regulations, they will receive “No Stars” on their report card. For each level that a center goes above and beyond the minimum licensing requirements, they will receive a star. The highest possible star rating is a 3 star rating. At CPNS, we currently have a rating of 3 Stars. We work hard to maintain a good star rating. Our teachers go through extra training. We are especially diligent with health and safety matters, recordkeeping, parent communication, children’s activities, interaction with the children and the overall structure of our program.
We provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack at CPNS for the children, at no extra charge to you. The menu is distributed at the beginning of the month. We will provide nutritious meals and appropriate portion sizes that meet the guidelines for the USDA Child Care Food Program. Each family will complete a food program application. This information will help determine if the school can receive state funds to be used towards the purchase of food.
Our center has an open door policy. We encourage you to become involved in activities here at our center. Our center welcomes parent volunteers, extended family, church volunteers, community members, and our substitute teachers to participate in our program. All visitors and volunteers must sign in at the office.
We use A Beka curriculum. It’s Christian based and kindergarten ready skills. A Beka focuses on learning colors, shapes, letters and numbers.
We provide childcare for families with children 6 week-5yrs old. School ager care ages 5yrs-12yrs. during summer breaks. We are open Monday-Friday 6:30-5:30.
Rates are for full-time per week, we also off part time childcare.

If you have more than one child enrolled in our center, you will receive a 20% discount for the oldest sibling.
We accept family first certificates thru DHS.
