Becoming a Member

Are you interested in becoming a member of our church family?

That is fantastic! You will be wholeheartedly welcomed to join as a part of our family! Church membership is important because it expresses a commitment to a local church where we can give of our time, share our talents, share our resources, grow in faith together, and serve others. Everyone is welcomed as a part of our fellowship and we look forward to you joining with us as a part of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

There are no requirements for membership. You may join by transferring from another church or by making a profession of faith.

Our pastor, Rev. Christian Smith, would love to talk to you about joining the church whenever you feel comfortable.

While they are not required for membership in the church, each year we offer classes that will help you to understand more about the local church, the denomination, and its beliefs and structures.

Pastor’s Class

Once a year, the ministers lead a group of children through the process of salvation and church membership. The class is mainly for children ages nine to twelve, but there have been younger attendees.

Inquirer’s Class

This class is designed specifically for those regular visitors who are interested in placing their membership with the Cookeville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. For a season each year, this class gathers in the office of the senior pastor where particulars about the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cookeville Cumberland Presbyterian Church are shared. This class is not mandatory for church membership.
