Fall Revival

We celebrated Reformation Sunday on October 30th with a Hymn Festival presented during morning worship services by our Sanctuary Choir and the Hallelujah Handbells. Our resident bagpiper Carroll Gotcher led the Recessional with his rendition of “Amazing Grace”.

Homecoming Service

During the month of August, we celebrated Homecoming by inviting guest preacher Rev. Kenny Butcher to present the morning message. A Reunion Choir united the voices of our Sanctuary Choir, past and present, in special music for the service. A joyous time was had by all as we reflected on the history of this congregation and looked with great anticipation toward the future of our church.

Patriotic Service

In 2008 we began offering a Patriotic Service each summer just prior to July 4th. This community-wide event features an ecumenical choir, The Patriot Singers, and often includes a community handbell choir, The Freedom Ringers. This year’s program With Liberty and Justice For All! focused on the history and meaning of many of our patriotic symbols, including the eagle and the Statue of Liberty.

Maundy Thursday Service

One of the highlights of the Lenten season at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church is our annual Maundy Thursday service. Since our 2007 presentation of The Living Last Supper, we have offered a musical drama on Thursday evening during Holy Week. While the drama and music vary each year, the presentation always focuses on the events which took place during Jesus’ last days on earth, leading up to His crucifixion. The 2011 service was entitled “Who Do You Say                             That I Am?”.
