Joyce Tatum
Joyce has provided leadership for a variety of ministries since joining the staff of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. For seventeen years, she worked in the church’s Nursery School, serving as its Director for much of that time. After leaving that position, she helped to start Prescott Pups, a day care center at the former Prescott Middle School in Cookeville. Joyce continues to help out with the C.P.N.S. (Cumberland Presbyterian Nursery School) whenever the need arises.
On the other end of the age spectrum, Joyce currently works with the church’s JOY Club. Her duties as Director of this group include planning and implementing monthly social activities and trips for a group of the older saints from this congregation. Under her leadership, JOY Club members have traveled far and wide to places such as Niagara Falls (Canada), Savannah (GA), and Branson (MO).
Joyce is also an accomplished actress who has played leading roles in numerous community theatre productions, as well as the church’s dramatic presentations. We are most fortunate to have someone with Joyce’s training and experience serving as our Drama Director. She works closely with our Minister of Music on all our church’s dramatic offerings, many of which draw an audience of community people as well as people from our own congregation.
Joyce and her husband Dr. Alan Tatum own and operate Payless Family Pharmacy and RX Home Medical in nearby Sparta, Tennessee. They have three children and six grandchildren.
