Rev. Christian Smith
Christian Smith has served at Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church since July 2014.
Christian began preaching when he was 15 years old. Though he worked in other professions for a time, Christian never felt he was where he ought to be. In church service, he has found his place of joy and purpose. Christian cannot imagine himself doing anything else but serving God’s church.
Christian has been married to his wife, Jodi, since 1999. Jodi is a teacher at Cookeville High School. They have been blessed with one child, Maggie.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Bethel University and a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary. Before coming to Cookeville, he served churches in Chattanooga and McMinnville, Tennessee.
When he is not working or spending time with his family, you can find Christian on a river bank or in his kayak trying to catch some fish.
“I love this town and I love this church. I have found that the people of First Cumberland are excited about serving the community around them. This is a church where everyone is welcome and everyone strives to support one another. No matter how long you have been here, everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and their expertise in ministry. From the moment you walk through the door of the church, you are family.“
